Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Naproxen (Naprosyn) and Indomethacin (Indocin) are mostly used as medications by Doctors to treat ankylosing spondylitis. These drugs usually help in reducing inflammation, pain and stiffness. Some minor side-effects could be gastrointestinal bleeding in some cases.

Ankylosing spondylitis affects the low back in young male (Age less then 45 yrs)
Back become stiff and painful more in the early morning
It is an autoimmune condition where body’s immune system attacks the back spine and sometime also other joints and eye
Lower back joints (sacroiliac joint) and lumbar spine are the first to be involved.
Gradually it spreads upwards and affect rest of the spine

Apart from spine it also involves shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints
Sometimes there is inflammation at bottom of the heel and back of heel
Some time there is painful red eye during which blurring of vision occur
