Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Naproxen (Naprosyn) and Indomethacin (Indocin) are mostly used as medications by Doctors to treat ankylosing spondylitis.   • Ankylosing spondylitis affects the low back in young male (Age less then 45 yrs)
  • Back become stiff and painful more in the early morning
  • It is an autoimmune condition where body’s immune system attacks the back spine and sometime also other joints and eye
  • Lower back joints (sacroiliac joint) and lumbar spine are the first to be involved.
  • Gradually it spreads upwards and affect rest of the spine
  • Apart from spine it also involves shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints
  • Sometimes there is inflammation at bottom of the heel and back of heel
  • Some time there is painful red eye during which blurring of vision occur
