Low Back Pain
Lower back starts from below the ribcage and is also called as lumbar region. Almost every human being at a certain age, experience lower back pain. Commonly it is happened due to muscle strain, often related to heavy physical labor, lifting or forceful movement, bending or twisting into awkward positions, or standing in one position too long.
Types of Low Back PainMost commonly it is categorized in 2 types
• Mechanical pain
In this, the pain starts from the muscles, ligaments, joints (facet joints, sacroiliac joints), or bones in and around the spine. This type of pain tends to be localized to the lower back, buttocks, and sometimes the top of the legs.
• Radicular pain
It occurs when a spinal nerve root becomes impinged or inflamed. It causes specific sensation is sharp, electric, burning-type pain and can be associated with numbness or weakness. It is typically felt on only one side of the body.
Low back pain is accompanied by sciatica, which is pain and it involves the sciatic nerve and is felt in the lower back, the buttocks, the backs and sides of the thighs, and possibly the calves. If LBP becomes more serious, it leads to fever, night pain that awakens a person from sleep, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness, burning urination, swelling or sharp pain.
